LEADER+ Inter-regional and Transnational Activity

Within our Programme we have funds ring-fenced for joint projects with other rural areas within the UK (“inter-regional projects”), and for joint projects with other rural areas in EU countries and beyond (“transnational projects”).

If you are currently developing a transnational project, or thinking of doing so, click here to download our 'Transnational checklist'.

Please do not hesitate to contact the Programme Manager for further information or to discuss project ideas.

Transnational project development

While we are open to ideas from any quarter, we are especially keen to link up with LEADER+ areas that are developing projects in the following areas:

  • Working with young people and youth enterprise;
  • Long distance footpaths;
  • Tourist areas attracting visitors for natural heritage reasons, and areas developing festivals;
  • Areas promoting community enterprise as a way of achieving sustainability.

Joint projects - Our track record

We have an excellent track record of supporting successful interregional and transnational projects. Here are those that have been completed or are currently underway:

New Development Fund

In order to assist in the early stages of transnational project development, we have set aside £7,500 for development costs. Applicants wishing to access this funding to support travel and other development costs associated with setting up transnational projects should contact the Programme Manager.
