Rural ICT Pilot Project

Total project cost / Leader+ grant

£27,650 / £13,825

Summary

This project is an Information and Communications Technology (satellite broadband) pilot initiative targetted at small to medium enterprises in rural Stirling. It is designed to help sustain existing rural businesses by helping them to become more competitive, and to promote rural Stirling as an attractive business location for new businesses. Twenty varied businesses will be included in the trial. This project differs from the Aberfoyle Wireless Project, which measures the performance of wireless distribution of a shared satellite connection. This project measures the performance of satellite broadband as an alternative to ADSL broadband.

Consultants were appointed to evaluate the take up and success of the project - the final report is available here.
