Total project cost / Leader+ grant

£35,416 / £17,500

Summary

This project will use a purpose-restored building in the extensive grounds of Luss Manse to create craft workshops and a visitor centre.

In addition to providing a meeting room for local young people, the Centre will have three main sections each of which relates to the other two:

  1. A visitor centre providing information about the history and importance of the village of Luss and its Church. Built into the visitors' centre will be touch-screen computers which will tell the story of the village through the eyes of the local community. The visitor centre will also be able to be used as a training room when required.
  2. A computer centre providing computers with broadband access for use by the community. This centre will provide computer training in word-processing, publishing, spreadsheets and accountancy, digital photography, video editing and webpage construction.
  3. Two small craft workshops will be furnished with equipment to provide training opportunities for young people in the community and older members of the community in pottery and candle-making skills.
