Project

Trossachs Bus Walks Pilot

Total project cost / Leader+ grant

£20,000 / £8,000

Summary

This project involves the preparation and production of a bus walks brochure, combined with an additional anti-clockwise Trossachs Trundler bus - a circular bus route serving the Trossachs area of the Loch Lomond & the Trossachs National Park. Putting on an additional bus was essential to providing a more frequent service, thereby making the bus walks attractive to walkers coming to the area, and ultimately ensuring the viability of the expanded service in the future.

The objective of the project is to increase the usage of public transport by visitors to the National Park, and to make the National Park more accessible to non-car owners. Although primarily a tourist bus, an additional benefit of the project is the provision of a more frequent bus service connecting Aberfoyle to Callander (and vice versa) for local residents.
