This project will provide access to information communication technology
(ICT) facilities and training to the communities of the remote part of
rural Stirlingshire which make up the Breadalbane area of the National
Park. These communities suffer particularly poor public transport links
and minimal adult education provision.
As a mobile learning centre, the
communities share the resource, as individually
each community would struggle to justify a 'bricks and mortar' learning
centre. Training staff and equipment will move around the villages, using
existing community buildings which will be supplied with satellite broadband
access. Each centre will have a schedule of classes and access to tutors,
with additional time available for more flexible learning and usage.
A co-ordinator has been appointed who will oversee the purchase of the
equipment and draw up a detailed programme of classes.
